You took them as they were and enjoying their romantic companionship. Cut yourself some slack and allow yourself that same romantic expectation. Being more relaxed in your demeanor, you'll have an easier time talking with a variety of people and increase your attractiveness with others!

I have been receiving a lot of emails and twitter @AprilBraswell Direct Messages asking for tips for ways to celebrate romantically, creatively as well as frugally. Certainly with the current state of the economy, many married couples are unemployed and have either small Valentine's Day budgets or literally zero dollars to spend. You can still lift your heart and your spirits and I wrote multiple articles covering an abundance of literally free romantic celebration tips and ideas just for you and all who requested it. Poke through my blog posts from February. Frugal Dating Tips are always in style and perennially useful throughout the year.
Freshly back to The OC from Las Vegas where I presented two workshops covering Online Dating Success and a national singles conference. And now I am working on my forthcoming book covering Internet Dating Successfully. Here in The OC, the beach and the board walk is a great place to go. You can go in the early evening and stroll and smile and nod at people passing the other way. Those of us who live in the Las Vegas area do note, when you keep your eyes and ears open, you can definitely get dates while you are out and about, and I'm talking about dates that lead to ongoing romantic relationships, not just those super fun, "What happens in Vegas, STAYS in Vegas!" sort of dates. There is all the fun of the Las Vegas Strip for singles, and there is plenty of singles dating opportunities Off Strip as well.
How is your romantic love life? And remember, studies show it is MARRIED people who have the most romantic sex. Not married yet? A number of single men and single women of all different ethnic groups approach me to be their dating coach, and after emailing and talking with me, they slowly reveal one of their deepest fears, "April, what is WRONG with me that I don't have a boyfriend [or girlfriend] and not dating? My friends are all married. What's wrong with me? What am I doing wrong?" They have watched all the TV shows and Hollywood movies where the early 30 somethings with perfect skin meet and become a couple in 3.1 days.
In reality, being irresistibly attractive the opposite sex takes some effort - both externally and internally. We DO need to make efforts to look OUR best so work on our personal image. And we need to do some internal work.
STOP! WAIT! I can already feel all the men tensing up and wanting to exit the page rather than have to TALK to some stranger about these things. NO WORRIES!
Part of my uniqueness as a Dating Coach and Relationship Coach is that I really understand and appreciate men as they are. In fact, that is one of the repeated comments from men. I am NOT sending you to a therapist where you have to reveal your darkest secrets (eek!) to a complete stranger.

Part of my uniqueness which I bring to my dating and relationship coaching with my clients is that I am a widow. I am not divorced. I have LIVED THROUGH the actual concept to which we vow, "Til Death Do Us Part." Death parted us. I have LIVED OUT commitment.
Most of my clients are divorced singles. Please don't think that I am not compassionate about that as your Romance Coach. Of course, we do Divorce Recovery action steps first. Indeed, there are absolutely excellent and necessary reasons for divorce. Just having done so, they are wounded.
Divorced single can often feel a bit rejected fundamentally as a woman.... as a man. Their sense of self-knowledge is out of whack. They often don't feel inside truly attractive and desirable. When they come to me to ask me to be their Romance Coach, I help them to see that in themselves and to express their best selves to the world so they are attracting great partners for THEM. Not what the world may be prescribing to them. And oh my goodness, let's have some FUN along the way, OK? Often there is this little fear inside, those little voices which say, " Maybe he is lying!" and "Don't TRUST!" unto the point of marriage commitment. Or "Don't SACRIFICE!" for the other. What is the point of a relationship if we do not get to enjoy the priviledge of mutually sacrificing for each other over time? Those are the relationships which stay only superficial, when most of us yearn and long for one for whom we can sacrifice, a love which enobles us. Daily life means things get pedantic. There is laundry to be done and toilet bowls to be washed. But when we have sacrificed for each other, truly given to them, then we have experienced true intimacy and communion with the Divine. Indeed, we have LIVED. Isn't that what you want, afterall? Isn't that part of what you are hoping for in marriage? Dreaming for? Yearning for when you marry?
Part of the joy of actually DATING is to explore different aspects of ourselves. Try new things and explore and express that part of yourself. Are you a strong athlete? Excellent! How about going to the Opera once or twice? A happy book worm? Superb! Let's go on a 3 hour hike!

What Is in YOUR Dating Calendar This Week?
Do you have 3 or 4 dates? Or do you need to learn more ways to Get More Dates with Men? I'm talking about having at least a Friday and a Saturday night date. You might also have a Sunday evening or brunch date as well as at least 1 weeknight date.
If you don't yet have that, what are you DOING this very week actively to Meet More Men?
Have you gotten online yet with different Online Dating Sites?
Are you talking with the people in front of you and behind you at Starbucks?
When you are at Barnes & Noble at lunchtime, did you find some way to have a 3 sentence conversation with the other people there?
And when you were at B&N, did you just stay in the ROMANCE and PERSONAL GROWTH sections? Or did you to "Where The Boys Are...." over in BUSINESS and TECHNOLOGY?
On Wednesday night, have you been stopping by to eat din dins at places where divorced dads are likely to take their children? (Family Style Chinese Restaurants and Pizza Joints rank high here.)
Thursday evening, are you getting together with some of your GFs? Singles and marrieds. Thursday evening is simply GREAT for a Girls' Night Out! And you'll want to intersperse that with attending some business networking events, too, which are always chock full of men!
OK folks, it's FRIDAY NIGHT? Do you have a date?
Are you getting out tonight?
If you don't have a date, by all means, GET OUT THERE!
Go to a live singles event.
Go to the Bar - hey, Friday night Happy Hour is a FUN thing!
Go to a HOCKEY GAME! Still good for going to a Vegas Wranglers game, as well, right?
Or if you prefer, you could go to a BASEBALL GAME. C'est ok avec moi. To each his own. Just GET OUT.
Now, if you just go to the movies on Friday night, *sigh*, you'll be in the dark sitting ALONE with a stranger with whom you are NOT interacting for 2 hours. If you MUST go to the movies, you have to interact with the people in line near you. Otherwise, go on a week night.

YES, tonight IS (drum roll please....) DATE NIGHT! Do you have one?
If your answer is NO, WHAT ACTIONS ARE YOU TAKING to DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT FOR NEXT WEEK?
Yes, you will see I am ALL about TAKE action. This is not "The Secret." "I'll just ask the Universe for the relationship I want and it will come to me." Is that how you would buy your house? Is that how you would land your next job? No! For all other really important things you want in life, you DO Take Action for them. Right? Yes, do pray or visualize for what you want. Ask God and the Universe for the relationship you want. Journal about it. Write it out. Write out some of what you DON'T want and then recraft that into a positive statement of what you DO want. All of that will help you FIND it. However, you also MUST GET OUT THERE to find it.
Who are your Relationship Role Models? Be sure you know and regularly interact with a number of happily married couples of all ages. I find it invaluable to interview and learn from the happily married for what they are doing to contribute to their strength and longevity of their relationships, don't you?
